In Paper, Thread, Tape students will learn how simple binding structures can be mixed and matched to create complex layered forms for artist books. We will learn Hedi Kyles’s blizzard book and pocket accordion structures, that are created from just a few sheets of carefully folded paper, followed by a concertina and do-si-do books which use the accordion as their back bone with support from tape and thread. This class is a great way to start thinking about how simple book forms can be remixed by book artists. Expect a lot of fun paper folding, two sewing techniques, and a little tape.
